This place is usually a good last resort when all the other breakfast places have a really long wait. The food is good but nothing spectacular. I ordered an American cheese omelette that came with toast and hash browns. The eggs were good, toast was not really toasted, and hash browns weren't very good. The waitress was nice but it took awhile to get our food.

Why don't these breakfast places seem to care about their coffee ? A good cup of coffee will keep me coming back for more but it is nearly impossible to get a good cup of coffee in any of these Greek restaurants. It's too bad because except for the terribly generic watery dirt water they call coffee, the rest of the food is fine.

Let the record show that I've never been here any earlier than 1am. This is a great late night/early morning now-we-need-food kind of place. It is the nicest, most modern of the chain of three in Chicagoland. This is also the place that took my bacon virginity of nearly 20 years! (It was 3 am, I'd OD'd on karaoke, and the pressure was on--I'm looking at you, Tina S!) The Becky Thatcher breakfast is plenty of food for $7, the various sandwiches, soups, and doughnuts are tasty, and wallet-pleasingly priced. Anyhoo, my latest visit was in honor of an out-of-town friend who wasn't yet ready for the fun to end. We'd already had dinner and drinks, and were just going to have coffee, doughnuts, and conversation. One friend had the Butterball, the other friend and I had apple fritters, grilled with butter (I know, I know. It should've come with a side of Lipitor.) The Butterball was, apparently, over-nuked and rock hard, so it was replaced. Our apple fritters, on the other hand? Where do I start? First off, let me give thanks to our server for suggesting such a blessed concoction. The moist, buttery, apple-cinnamony, occasionally-crisp-hills-and-ridges, glazed goodness was life-changing! Then we ordered bacon...

I definitely thought this place is awesome after a night of heavy drinking when you haven't gone to bed yet, but you really want some breakfast food. This is mostly due to them being 24 hours and serving breakfast. My boyfriend and I went here on a Saturday morning after a late Friday night. It was pretty busy, but we got seated right away. However, It took about 20 mins for us to get our server. After we were looking around to get someone's attention, one of the girls talking in the corner with her friend finally came up to us to take our order. I thought it was kind of rude we had been sitting waiting for someone to come to us and she was just sitting in the corner talking to one of the other waitresses, but throughout the rest of our meal, we had good service, so that was good. I got the bacon and cheese omelet and I wasn't a huge fan of it. It wasn't light and fluffy, but dry and a little burnt. My boyfriend got the country fried steak. It was way too bready, but overall pretty tasty. My hands down favorite was the donut delight, which is ice cream of your choice on top of a donut of your choice. We got the red velvet donut and chocolate ice cream... it was sooo good. While I am not a fan of their breakfast foods, they have delicious donuts. I would definitely come back for them.

One of a handful of places in the SW burbs that is 24/7 and has a variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner items but isn't a national chain like Denny's or IHOP. We came in around midnight and everyone had a different appetite. I got a beef & cheddar croissant with a decaf coffee and doughnut, one friend got a bowl of chili and a cheesesteak sandwich, while the other guy got crepes and a milkshake. Lot's of variety, unfortunately not very impressive overall. My beef and cheddar was just alright, seemed like the meat was a little soggy and generally of low quality. Croissant and cheese weren't bad though, also decent French fries. My friend who ordered the crepes said they were pretty good, nothing stellar but not that bad, either. Chili was just mediocre. I thought the chicken noodle wasn't bad, my other friend didn't care for it. I did particularly enjoy the chocolate-cinnamon frosted doughnut. If Huck Finn's has anything going for it, I'd say it's probably the pastries, milkshakes and ice cream, I don't think we've ever gotten a bad one of any of those items. I will have to try the breakfast items next time, it seems that maybe they are better at those than some of the lunch/dinner sandwiches. I personally think everything here is overpriced. My sandwich was over $10, my 1 cup of coffee was $2.10, and my doughnut nearly $2. A nearly $20 bill including tax and tip, which isn't really what I had planned on walking into a 24/7 diner. The service has some to be desired. Our waitress was nice and even kinda funny, but after we got our food she kind of disappeared and didn't really check on us until we had to flag her down and asked for the bill. Still not a horrible option for late night dining, try the desserts.

The service was excellent. I had two eggs over medium and they arrived within three minutes. American potatoes along side took up half the plate, and were very, very dry, barely warm, and tasted like old potato. The coffee was good, and I hear they have a spectacular bakery. I overheard people phoning in orders for donuts. Clean establishment, you can sit at the counter for funsies. It was okay for a breakfast on the way to Midway. An extra star for the sunny waitress.

The service was great, the food was good, but could've been hotter, the cheese in my eggs wasn't melted, and hash browns were just lukewarm. But overall decent breakfast, at reasonable prices.

Food here was okay. $17.95 for a steak skillet seems steep, especially when it's not top notch. Their donuts are top notch though my brother had the Texas donut, I had a peanut donut. They both were delicious!

  • Monique R.

Food was pretty good, but service was somewhat slow. Created my own skillet and my friend had the ham and cheese omelet both were served with pancakes.

Pretty good food. I like how they include pancakes with the breakfast of you want instead of toast. Hostess could be more welcoming but the waitstaff makes up for it. Recommended for breakfast!

This is a good place for 24 hour eating. It's been around since I've been in diapers and they've been pretty consistent with their food. Some things are hit or miss here but if you stick with the basics and don't go for anything fancy you won't be disappointed. Their soups are usually tasty and their food portions will fill up just about anyone. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here but when nite comes and there's very few options Huck Fins stands out in a thin crowd.

Nothing special about the food! Open late and always good for drunk food. Service is always in the air sometimes great and other times been ignored almost entire time.

I love Huck's because you always know what to expect...good breakfast, awesome soup, and open 24 hours. The service isn't always the best but most waitresses are really friendly and respectful even if you only came in for a late night coffee or french fries. I love the cream of chicken rice soup, its one of my favorites and the omelets are fantastic. The prices are a little on the high side, especially for the breakfast items but its definitely a great late night spot.

This was our last resort. After being in chicago on business we wanted to do something fun to say we had truly experienced Chicago! We were going to hit the club but we had worked so hard during the day we changed our minds and googled a local eatery and this place popped up. The food was great, the people were great, and it looked nice and clean. It's a 24 hour diner. The food taste very very fresh!

Huck Finn's is kind of a tradition with my crew. Whether we're partying in the burbs or in Pilsen, we tend to end up at the home of the Texas Doughnut somewhere around 3am. This is the place where instead of singing "happy birthday" , we started the grand tradition of serenading our friends with "happy anniversary" on their birthdays. Not sure why, we were drunk and it was 3 in the morning. This is also the place where no matter how much Timmy has had to eat, he ALWAYS gets a dozen doughnuts to go. Once he got a dozen Texas doughnuts. I've been here more times than I can count - and I've loved it every time. Good service, good food, good prices. Triple threat right? WRONG! I ate here once again this past saturday. Once again at 3am. However, there was a major difference this time. I was sober. The food was bleh. Just bleh. Goopy hollandaise, soggy hashbrowns, a non runny egg yolk. Not impressed. So here's the conclusion I've drawn from this experience. Drunk me likes to play tricks on sober me. Like "Oh my God, that guy is soooo hot, you should totally make out with him all night." Then when we meet up for our first official date, he's the ugly evil twin of that hottie I thought I was making out with. Or when I order eggs benedict at 3 am schwasted and they're delicious, but at 3 am sober they become the ugly evil twin of the yummy breakfast I've grown to love. I'm sads :(

Now this place has "comfort food." I love their spinach and feta cheese omelet. The atmosphere is very pleasant. Not the usual crowd from the Archer & Damen location. The waitresses are sweet hearts and never leave you sitting with an empty cup of coffee. The only complaint I have is their veal. Disgusting!!!

If you like Huck Finn and want to escape the Urban/Ghetto area, try this one. This is a great fancy restaurant that I love going to for Brunch. Walked into the restaurant with an awesome friend of mine, and was greeted by two different waiters and walked us to our table. Asked if we would like coffee and of course I said YES. This place has amazing customer service and they would check on you to see how your doing and to see if you need refills on your coffee or drinks. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone :)

The best donuts and turkey club sandwich in the area are found here at this unpretentious diner-style place. Open 24/7 it is clean and the waitstaff is friendly and competent no matter what time of day or night I eat here. The full menu is served around the clock and at about 2 am the fresh donuts come out. For the money, this place is a gem. You can pay more but it won't be any better!

I love coming here in the middle of the night, when all you want is a place to sit, have a cup of coffee, enjoy good conversation and eat a gigantic f*ckin' donut. As soon as you walk in, it's donut time! They have donut holes, regular donuts, "special" donuts, and the Texas donut, which is bigger than my head, but might taste better. In addition to all of the above, they have an extensive regular menu along with a couple specials. I love dinner plates at Huck Finn because they always come with soup or salad, choice of potato, bread and butter, and dessert! My favorite is the scrod cod : yummers : But if that's not your bag, baby, they have skillets, omelettes, your choice of meat plus eggs, and a bazillion things you can get on bread AKA sandwiches. You just can't go wrong at Huck Finn! They have something for everyone, so even if you're picky as all hell, you'll still walk away full and with a smile on your face. ps. Sometimes they have the alaskan donut. It is bigger than an infant baby.for realsies, there's even a picture at the bakery counter,

So loving the remodeled look. I've been to many HF's but this has to be the nicest one. Becky Thatcher breakfast for sure and as always they are consistent with the presentation. Although, why is there no Splenda! Hello. I don't do equal! But thats besides the point. The wait time (On a Sunday mind you) was less then 15 minutes and that put such a smile on my face, as they passed me up to serve the freshly made coffee for the table next to us. And as the lady in the booth (and please understand that the booth was in pain, use your imagination) smothered not one, two, three but four marmalade's all over her toast, well that of the toast of her friend who obviously was oblivious to the way she just scampered over his food to get to HIS TOAST! She smothered it so well that it looked like a wet blanket! But I digress, who am I to tell someone not to drown their food in pounds and pounds of marmalade and butter, or was it "I can't believe its not butter"? Whatever, you got the gist. So back to the story. The restaurant itself is really nice and remodeled and none of that old fashioned looking restaurant like "many" of the others. The service was quick and the food was really good. There, now I conquered you with my reviews. Hit the friend section and see more! That is all. Hello, go away I said that is all.

I was so happy to find this restaurant on Yelp. We were at Christ Hospital and had just become grandparents after a long day and night. We left the new family and decided we just needed something to nibble on! Could there possibly be something open? Yes! Could they possibly have donuts? Yes again! And that is how I found myself happily eating donuts at 4 am with some of Chicago's Finest. I scarfed down a Red Velvet donut and a glazed donut. Were they the best donuts in the world? Well, no, but they were the best ones available and I was darn happy to be devouring them. Huck Finn donuts - the perfect 4 am snack!

Went here today and had breakfast, and it was miles better than the dinner I had the previous visit. Order breakfast when you go!! Donuts still fabulous. One of these days I'm going to get the Alaskan donut...it's as big as your head!

Update: 9.20.15 My last 2 visits, my eggwhite omelette was really oily. I mentioned it last visit at check out to the main dude, but I think I'll stick to their donuts and peppermint ice cream, as they are still yummy and fresh. So from 4 stars to 3. Still solid donuts, thank goodness. ;) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- .A solid 24 hour diner...with doughnuts. Yes, that's right; It's also a doughnut joint. I used to love love LOVE when my folks would go to a giant shindig of ANY sort because it always ended in Dad making merry....and in turn, Mom swinging by Huck Finn's Pulaski location to snag a batch of DElicious doughnuts. These days, I'm much further South, but still lucky enough to have access to a Huck Finn. Recently remodeled; kinda cozy with a slight nod to the mod. They do breakfast here all day long serving up fluffy flapjacks and eggs done any which way you please. For the breakfast bunch, if you prefer browned eggs, stick with their traditional style of tossing them on the grill, but if lighter eggs are what you seek, request your omelette "pan fried". Hash browns are sliced, never grated or greasy. If you want them crisp, order "extra crispy". Their BLT, Turkey Club and french fries are good stuff. Free refills on their iced tea and pop. Yay! Personally, I'm a sucker for their liver and onions. Yep, I'm one of those oddballs that keeps crap like that on the menu...your grandparents...and me. *fist bump* Soups here are pretty good. The bottomless breadbasket and java are house staples. Fresh fruit cups, low-cal options, salads and other vegetarian friendly dishes plus a bevy of savory desserts mean something for everyone. I suggest being VERY specific when you order. Do you want beef or turkey gravy? Your dish smothered in it, on the side or nix dat altogether? I'm an au jus kinda gal myself, but diners love to drown their goods in gravy so speak up. "Dinners" include soup or salad , choice of potato (you can sub with rice, slaw or fruit) and dessert, but a la carte is also available. Hell, skip the a la carte and go straight for pie a la mode if you please. Their peppermint ice cream is killer! Occasionally, I swing by just for a cup to go. I don't get a cone because of my whole funky peppermint-pieces ritual. Anywhooo.....This isn't where one comes to get adventurous so I recommend sticking to the basics; Those are sure to please. Noise level and crowd vary with the hours. Note: Most of the waitresses here are awesome and part of why I enjoy coming here...but there's ONE. I won't divulge her name...just givin' ya a heads up. Request a move to another section if you find yourself in the unfortunate position of having been approached by a brooding, bossy killjoy. Ugh, what a mope! When you see it........

Honestly just not a fan of this place.. I keep going there because I'm a nigh owl and get hungry late at night, but every time I sit down I realize I don't want to eat here.. Food is way to over priced!!! $7 for a patty melt.. And It was almost $9 for a BLT.. I could keep going.. And on top of the high prices u have to tip.. (It's only right) but it all adds up but anyways.. There's nothing special about the food it's kinda just bla to me... No real flavor, idk I'll keep trying them till I find something I like on there huge menu and maybe I'll repost when I do. But for now Sorry guys..

I had only just been introduced to Huck Finn in recent weeks. It's open 24 hours, it's clean and updated with modern decor, the service is fast and very friendly, the donuts look amazing, and the food is excellent. This is your standard "Greek owned" restaurant with good cream soups, breakfasts, and fountain creations. I don't really know if they are "Greek owned" but you understand me. I have only had breakfast, omelettes both times with extra crispy hash browns and "Greek" toast :). We did try the pancakes this last time, and they were really really good. Light actually, with a little crisp on the edges. There are a couple other locations around, but I would come to this one because I know it and I like it a lot.

You know things are going to be alright when you arrive and are greeted with water and a bread basket snack. We were looking for a place to eat on a Sunday night and came across this restaurant. We were hesitant, but gave it a try and it paid off! The service was excellent, the food plentiful and tasty, and the establishment was clean. I can't say enough about the great staff and excellent food...we will return when we come back to Chicago!

After driving up and down Cicero trying to find a place to eat lunch on a Saturday afternoon my family finally decided on Huck Finn. The Alaska doughnut was so big. I think it's the biggest doughnut I've seen in person. The food was ok. I've had better diner food. The service was also ok. I enjoyed the brownie with some vanilla ice cream on top aka a mudslide it was the perfect dessert.

Service and ambiance were great. Food, blah. 1. Chicken noodle soup - Where was the chicken? 2. Philly cheese steak - Meat was chewy. 3. Monte Cristo - The ham was too salty. I'll still come here. Cozy place for a 24 hour diner. :)

Me and my family frequently come to Huck Finns but lately we have had some horrible experiences. The last 3 times we have come for breakfast, we have had servers that are rude and act annoyed at being asked the least little thing. This never used to be the case! It's a shame because this has been our go to breakfast place for years. And to boot, last trip we all got raw turkey sausage. On the look out for a new spot. :(

The food is ok. It's diner food. However the service is horrible. I don't recommend this place if you are young, any shade of brown, and still expect service none the less.

I always feel the need to explain my love for Huck Finn. I know it's just a typical "24 hour restaurant". I am never disappointed by them though. I have done everything from weekend breakfast to carry out for dinner when I'm feeling lazy. Some of my favorites are the cream of chicken soup, chicken shish-ka-bob and bite size donuts. If they have a box of these by the register- Buy them! The staff is always real friendly too.

  • Roseanne S.

Look, I know you're going to go here and be like, "what the hell are those Yelpers talking about? Why would they recommend this place?" You need to understand this: this place is not a "we're from out of town, let's find a nice place to eat." There are plenty of other restaurants in Oak Lawn for that. No, this is a 24 hour, get all kinds of people, townie restaurant and it's fu*king awesome. I go here to catch up with friends. I would never attempt to order a steak from here, but the basics are pretty good. Soups are awesome, sandwiches are standard. I highly recommend the brownie sundae. It's to die for. Seriously, I have dreams about it. If you don't wanna feel like a fatty, share it with a friend, but if you're like me, you're going to try to eat more than your half. Huck's is open 24 hours. Late night? Can't sleep? Go here. Why not? The food is nothing special, but it's like a diner. You feel at home here. You go to Huck's because you feel comfortable there. No one is going to judge you if you go in pajamas. That's why this place is awesome. That's why this place gets the reviews it does. If you want 5 star quality food, go somewhere else. Oh and they have donuts when you walk in, so you can just order them and go. They also have a Texas sized donut. Hell yes.

  • Derek H.

I have seen the Huck FInn near Midway and always wondered... I was running errands in the area and was craving a donut (or two). I wasn't in the mood for something typical, like Pantera, Korner Bakerie, or Dumbkin' so spotting this was a green light. This wasn't the time for a sit-down breakfast, so I got a buttermilk ball and an apple fritter. That fritter was mighty good! The glaze was dry, not sloppy/gooey, the fritter was crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. A perfect size- I just wish I had a plain coffee to go with it, instead of the flavored Starbucks that was in my car at the time.

Huck Finn is my go-to diner. Great ice cream, great breakfast, great dinner. When I'm not feeling well, their chicken soup is one of the only things that makes me happy. I agree with others -- this is not the best restaurant in town to eat at when you're visiting from out of town. This is a local 24-hour restaurant where the staff know you after a few visits and you always have a good meal. The food is fresh, it's made with love, and it's always a comfortable and inviting experience. The price is right, especially when every main item on the menu comes with a cup of soup and the pricier entrees come with soup AND ice cream. I personally love the chicken caeser pita.

Been there around 4 times. The new remodel is nice. The place needed the update and they did a fine job. Now the food also, needs a remodeling. The menu is antiquated. Not that tasty. It just feels like the classic 24 hr diner. Last thing i ate was a chicken croissant sandwich. Very mediocre. Recal eating some dish that came with a half canned peach over lettuce. Havent seen that in years. Shame cause the place has promise. They do donuts, and they are really good woth trying, specially the french ones. Shame the food does not match

The scene fades in, to the interior of a late 80s-early 90s fashioned, 24 hour diner, a group of college freshmen sit goofing around at a large corner booth, it's midnight. Why are they there? It's simple, they are too young for the bar scene without a "fake" id and too old to want to be home at curfew. They sit here for hours discussing politics, their future, cramming for FINALS, drinking coffee and ordering breakfast!! "But, it's midnight" you say?! Indeed it is, but at Huck Finn's you can get a full breakfast menu 24 hours a day. I loved this place all through college and upon my visit yesterday, it saddened me a little to see it less crowded at 6pm then it once was at any hour. The Spaghetti and meat sauce still had a kind of home made flavor, and the Mickey Mouse Pancake got us all smiling. The service at times can be a bit slow, and over my last 3 visits in the past 3 months, I've encountered the amazingly friendly waitress, and the "not so happy to be there" waitress. The food is tasty enough for diner food, that I would return, and I love to patronize this establishment until they decide to close their doors. The scene fades out with a thirty-something walking out of the diner, doughnut in hand, with a wife and child, picturing the noise and faces in the corner booth. Cheers!!

I heard about this place from my cousin so I decided to go for breakfast with her. To sum it up. It was a little pricey for breakfast . The service was great. I had a Omelet which was good but I was quite surprised the cheese was Extra ! Every place I ever ordered a omelet from cheese was standard. And the hash browns were under cooked.

As a child I only remember going to Huck Finn's for the donuts. My mom was a huge Huck Finn donuts fan and so was I. I especially loved the chocolate glazed donuts. I give their donuts 4 1/2 stars. As far as their restaurant, which I only started going about a year ago to the one on 67th because it's close to my friend's place, is not that great for the food nor the decor and ambiance. And forget the coffee here. It tastes burnt all the time no matter what time of day or night you get it, ew. I do prefer this one in Oak Lawn. The ambiance is a little better. I would have given it only 2 stars but this is a nice place to go late at night with my friend when we only want to split a club sandwich with fries. It's a sandwich, how badly can you mess up a sandwich. The first time my friend and I came to this one in Oak Lawn, he needed to do some work on his lap top so we found this place because it has WiFi. Another star added to my 2 stars for the food & restaurant alone. I don't like their cream of chicken rice soup. Way too salty for my taste. I had to pour some of my water in it to kill some of the salt. But that was also horrible. I didn't finish it and I should've asked for the salad after that but I didn't bother. The omelettes are pretty good. I especially like the Mexican omelette and their veggie one also. I give them 3 stars (I've had better but their's are not bad). My favorite meal on the menu is their spinach cranberry salad. Wow, for my friend and me, it's the best on their menu. We could actually split this one late at night when we want something light to eat. I give that salad 5 stars! I checked the online menu and I did not see this item on there. I wonder why. It's delicious and it should be put on the online menu. As I'm going through the additional tips, I noticed one of the survey questions asking if this place had a TV. I am so glad this restaurant has NO TV. I like that. I can't stand when restaurants have TVs all over. I can stay home and watch TV. When I'm with my friend, I like talking to him and I like him talking to me, not for him to keep watching the TV. I can't stand that. Why do restaurants have TVs anyway? No need. So for Huck Finn's not having a TV, I give it 5 stars!

Yea, there's characters in here, but Huck Finn's beats Golden Nugget any day. It's the same food, but I think Golden Nugget has no flavor to it. The servers were courteous and fast, and I like their bakery selection. It's been awhile since I've been here, but I was in a bowling league at nearby Arena (now Brunswick) every Saturday night before we turned 21, and this was where we'd go after.

If you want to go to a nice restaurant on a Friday night to talk over your week and plans for the upcoming weekend, don't come here. -24 hours -Alright food at a great price with alright service -Not the cleanest but not the dirtiest -Good for a quick meal to hold you off until dinner -Family friendly? Yes. Best place to take them? No. -The donuts are great. You can just walk in, get an order, and walk out.

We saw the sign for Huck Finn Restaurant and stopped in to grab a quick breakfast. This indie diner is open 24-7 and serves donuts the size of Texas! I went with the k omelet and it was delicious. Served with hash browns and choice of pancakes or toast, I could barely eat half! Highly recommend this if your looking for a locally owned breakfast joint in the Chicago/ Oak Lawn area.

Damn, Huck Finn. I forgot about this place. I went here for a huge meeting with my job because it was close by where our meeting was held and could seat the huge amount of us. Some of my coworkers had been here before and were talking about the donuts, which were huge. I didn't try one because I am weird about doughnuts. After finding out Dunkin Donuts fries theirs in pork fat, I kinda stopped eating them all together. I went here before the new law took effect about smoking and was surrounded by all these people smoking and hated it. As far as the food, it was typical diner food to me. Nothing great. We ordered a couple trays of Cheese sticks and onion rings for little appetizers which were fine. I had the vegetarian omelet which came with potatoes on the side and toast, which wasn't bad at all. Typical diner food nothing, spectacular to me and plus it was just for a meeting so I didn't mind. If I had to go again for a meeting sure. I would enjoy the mediocre food better now without the cigarrette smoke.

It's a dive restaurant. It's diner dive restaurant. It's a diner dive restaurant with my favorite Sunday soup - cream of chicken rice. I like this place. It's quaint and frequented by people of all ages (younger late-teens crowds that have no where else to hang out frequent at night) and the waitresses all have that diner waitress feel to them. It's consistently a feel good place to hang out, get some diner food and move on. Key is to only go here for the Sunday soup and you won't be disappointed.

My friends live really close to this place, like a few blocks away. I don't know what to make of the combination of a donut shop/place named after a Mark Twain character/coffee shop, but it's pretty good as a coffee shop, so I'll rate it as that. I didn't have any of their donuts, but their breakfasts are good. There seem to be a lot of people in here, which doesn't mean anything at all in the Midwest but which is comforting nonetheless.

Its a typical greasy spoon of a diner. Breakfast is their strong suti and on Sundays their cream of chicken w/rice is outstanding. The food is pretty good, but I gave it 5 stars for the donuts. I am not a big sweets person, but I will pound down fist fulls of their sprinkled donuts. It must be a childhood thing.

I would only go here after a good night of drinking; so you don't notice how horrible the food is. Actually, I take that back. The breakfast is mighty fine, if you just get the staples. (The Becky Thatcher used to be my old stand by.) But just the breakfast. Consider this a warning, don't get anything besides the breakfast! Like the others, one star for nostalgia, and another for being open when everything else is closed.

Huck Finn's was the place to be in high school after dark if you weren't hip enough to invited to any parties. Many times we would arrive at Huck Finn's around midnight and not leave until the sky was brightening, nursing bottomless cups of coffee and chowing down on stale dinner rolls. It's a huge restaurant, and there are fewer and fewer places like Huck Finn's--you know, with the $5.95 specials, laden in gravy, wrinkled/tattooed waitresses, and a smoky haze hanging over the dining room. The food is what you'd expect for a diner, the donuts are disappointing, and you'll probably want to steer clear of the Superman ice cream--I think they've been working on the same container since 1999. A gross and funny anecdote. As we were regulars at Huck Finn's in high school, we all had our usual beverages. One evening, after over a year of frequenting Huck's, we had a new waitress. My two friends ordered their usual cherry cokes. The waitress made a face, cocked her head, and told them that they didn't serve cherry coke-- unless, that was, they made it using coke and grenadine... but "they wouldn't want that--the grenadine comes from the giant jar of ice cream cherries, which everyone reaches into and is very unsanitary". Ewwwww. As you can imagine, my friends found a new regular drink. Gross? Yes, but funny, as there was no mention of my coffee being tainted in such a way.

I've been going to Huck Finn since it opened. I love their breakfast, awesome french toast. What keeps bringing me back is the Cream of Chicken soup. For those of you who don't know, they now serve it on Tuesday in addition to Sunday. Go for the soup, you WILL NEVER eat any other cream of chicken again.

My nephew and I had breakfast here recently, the food is great and priced right. I love the variety and the pancakes are so good. They have a lot of combo plates which makes it easier to try several items. Only issue, server a little short on pleasantries but will definitely be back.

I'm sads :(

Hell yes.

Gross? Yes, but funny, as there was no mention of my coffee being tainted in such a way.

yes, a lot of high school memories occurred at this late night hang. rice crispy shots, donut delights, coffee and cigarettes, etc. but i just can't give 5 stars to a restaurant that brought down the great empire of wags! wags forever!

My friends and usually stop up there on Sunday nights. Sunday soup (cream of chicken) is amazing. I also love their breakfast. Nice little greasy spoon joint.

My nephew and I had breakfast here recently, the food is great and priced right. I love the variety and the pancakes are so good. They have a lot of combo plates which makes it easier to try several items. Only issue, server a little short on pleasantries but will definitely be back.

  • Kristin M.

Service and ambiance were great. Food, blah. 1. Chicken noodle soup - Where was the chicken? 2. Philly cheese steak - Meat was chewy. 3. Monte Cristo - The ham was too salty. I'll still come here. Cozy place for a 24 hour diner. :)

  • Teri D.

Waitress was not attentive the food wasn't good I found a hair in my food which grossed me more out and completely lost my appetite very unsanitary I will be calling the Health department tomorrow morning the waitress's do no not Wear gloves when preparing bread baskets or salads which is ridiculous after touching dirty menus and coughing into their hands save money don't go here

The service was great, the food was good, but could've been hotter, the cheese in my eggs wasn't melted, and hash browns were just lukewarm. But overall decent breakfast, at reasonable prices.

Food is okay but a lot of it is the over priced! If you get here at the wrong time to line is terrible and I almost always end up going to a different place.

Food here was okay. $17.95 for a steak skillet seems steep, especially when it's not top notch. Their donuts are top notch though my brother had the Texas donut, I had a peanut donut. They both were delicious!

Go to nicely remodeled diner for after church breakfast, lunch with the grandparents, or hungover food after drinking. Can't go wrong with the soup and grilled cheese!

    (4)
  • Jason H.

  • Bobby B.

Like the others, one star for nostalgia, and another for being open when everything else is closed.

yes, a lot of high school memories occurred at this late night hang. rice crispy shots, donut delights, coffee and cigarettes, etc. but i just can't give 5 stars to a restaurant that brought down the great empire of wags! wags forever!
